Sant’Anna Institute & Liceo Scientifico Salvemini Launch Dual Academic Collaboration in Language and Scientific Studies
Sant’Anna Institute and Liceo Scientifico Salvemini have launched a dual-track academic collaboration designed to strengthen international exchange through a Language and Cultural Exchange Program (“Meet the Locals”) and a Scientific Collaboration Program.
The partnership connects American university students seeking global engagement with Italian high school students eager to expand their academic, linguistic, and professional skills.
Scientific Collaboration Program
The Scientific Collaboration Program includes two components:
? Lab Project: Conducted in Salvemini’s science laboratories, this hands-on initiative aligns with Sant’Anna courses such as Marine Biology, Chemistry, and Ecology. Students collaborate on investigations involving microplastics, primary producers, and ecological microcosms, applying laboratory techniques, data collection, and joint analysis in a shared research setting.
? Special Scientific Projects: Hosted at the Liceo’s main campus, these interdisciplinary workshops and seminars, including environmental impact roundtables and Women in STEM discussions, establish critical thinking, scientific dialogue, and engagement with global challenges.
Language and Cultural Exchange Program
This program combines structured English-language tutoring with cultural dialogue. Italian students develop fluency and intercultural communication skills through immersive interaction with native English-speaking peers. Discussions explore educational systems, student life, and cultural perspectives, broadening global awareness and academic outlooks.
In return, Italian students support American participants in fully immersing themselves in Italian culture, offering insight into local academic life, traditions, and community values. The reciprocal model promotes leadership, confidence, and cross-cultural competence for both groups.
